Honolulu Community Collegeʻs (HonCC) Fire and Environmental Emergency Response Program hosted their second Open House and Family Day on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at the college’s Airport Training Center.
The Fire and Environmental Emergency Response students are undergoing national certification training. One of the requirements is to give a presentation on life safety topics to a small group and performing residential dwelling surveys. Their Annual Open House and Family Day meets this certification requirement.
Fire students provided educational presentations that centered around fire safety, a tour of the facility, as well as displays featuring fire trucks and associated equipment.
Guests also got to see the students perform firefighting skills, including:
- Forcible entry through doors;
- Fire attack into a 2nd-story structure;
- Ladder drills & hauling up tools & equipment; and
- Bunker drill competition.
