When the UH Office of Sustainability heard that 4,000 brand new reusable mugs at the Kauaʻi CC campus were going to be thrown away/headed to a Kauaʻi landfill, UH decided to distribute them to Oʻahu campuses including Honolulu Community College (HonCC).


The University of Hawaiʻi rescued the mugs were headed to a landfill on Kauaʻi because of a misprint, the UH Office of Sustainability stored them at Kauaʻi CC until they were ready to ship the mugs to UH campuses to help promote sustainability. In addition to HonCC, UH Mānoa, Windward CC, Kapiʻolani CC, UH West Oʻahu and UH Maui College received rescued mugs.

The mugs have been dubbed #uhglymug.
