The Music & Entertainment Learning Experience (MELE) presents MELE’s Kalikimaka: A Toys for Tots donation drive put on by the MELE 205 Concert & Event Production class. The event takes place on December 6, 2017, 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at Honolulu Community College’s new Hale ‘Aina performance space.
MELE’s Kalikimaka is an annual holiday-themed event, now in its third year, which features music performances, raffle prizes, coffee and hot chocolate, and a Toys for Tots toy donation drop box. The event also serves as a final project for the students of MELE 205. Attendees will receive a raffle ticket for each toy donated. Bring in a musical toy and receive two raffle tickets. The event features multiple prize raffles donated by local businesses. This years musical guests include Ron Artis II & The Truth, Jay Keyz Project, and Elijah Golden.
MELE is a two year college degree program located at the Honolulu Community College campus. MELE utilizes a comprehensive music business and production curriculum meeting the requirements for entry-level training of music industry and production professionals. The curriculum focuses on combining academic experience with real-world applications to prepare students to work in the rapidly evolving global music industry of the 21st century.
The objectives of the U.S. Marine Corp Reserve Toys for Tots program are to help less fortunate children throughout the United States experience the joy of Christmas; to play an active role in the development of one of our nation’s most valuable resources – our children; to unite all members of local communities in a common cause for three months each year during the annual toy collection and distribution campaign; and to contribute to better communities in the future.
This event is FREE and open to all ages.
