The 5th annual Social Science Speaker Series Colloquium will be held on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at 1:30 in the Honolulu Community College Library.
This year’s talk in October, which is timely for Filipino American Heritage Month will feature Dr. Anthony Ocampo, Assistant Professor of Sociology at California State Polytechnic University-Pomona and a Ford Foundation Fellow at the UC Riverside School of Public Policy.
Dr. Ocampo’s new book, The Latinos of Asia: How Filipino Americans Break the Rules of Race, is highly regarded by the Sociology and Ethnic Studies community and this talk is co-sponsored by the University of Hawai’i Manoa Ethnic Studies Department.
The event is open to the public so please bring your friends to hear about some interesting new research findings regarding ethnicity and identity. Faculty Development will provide light refreshments for those attending the colloquium. We are also working on a book signing by the speaker after the talk. Mark your calendar!
