On Friday, October 10th at 12:30 pm,  the public is welcome to attend the first University College Colloquium of the year in building 7, room 633.
Professor Patrick Patterson will present, “The Rules of Heart: Popular Songs in the history of Modern Japan.”
Learn about the history of J-Pop through looking at the origins of what we call Enka and J-Pop, which today are the product of a long history of market and artistic interactions that were already operating in Japan in the 1920s.

You’ll see lots of new and old videos, and some cool new artists that you may not be aware of. Look for Kyari Pamyu, Arashi (yes THE Arashi that was here two weeks ago), Tempura Kidz, X Japan, Nakayama Shimpei, Yoshi Ikuzo, and more!
